During their first year, (i) students take introductory courses in the major disciplinary components of cognitive science, (ii) they take core methodological courses in statistics, data science and programming, and (iii) they take advanced courses in the disciplines of their choice (for students who wish to have a major, these courses must be chosen from it). Research internships also complete the curriculum.
At the end of the first year, students will have assimilated the major concepts, methods and issues central to cognitive science, and they will have specifically consolidated their training in one or more disciplines of their choice. They will also be able to analyse and criticize the current literature, in order to develop a coherent research project for the second year (M2).
